Say No To Sugar

Sugar is one of the most harmful ingredients in all foodstuffs. It provides the body with no benefits whatsoever, holds no nutritional value, and can in fact lead to a whole host of serious issues such as tooth decay. Sugar mixes with your saliva to form a kind of bacteria that eats away at the strong enamel layer outside your teeth, causing discoloration and making you more susceptible to cavities and other painful conditions. Avoiding sugar will of course encourage all of these issues to subside, but it can be tough to try and stop eating sweet stuff full stop. If you can’t slick your sugar habit, try swilling your mouth with fresh water after eating something sweet, and always use a straw to consume drinks like juices as this should help to bypass your teeth on the way down.

Adopt A Clean Routine

It’s absolutely vital that you adopt an efficient clean routine which you can perform twice daily, as this will ensure that major problems are kept at bay. Start off your clean routine by brushing your teeth thoroughly for at least 2 minutes, ensuring that you reach right to the back of your mouth, brushing behind your teeth too. Ensure that all remnants of the toothpaste are gone from your mouth and none is swallowed, as fluoride can be harmful when consumed. Next, utilize a mouthwash that’s suitable for your unique needs – things like sensitivity, bad breath, discoloration, and decay can all be targeted through specific mouthwash formulations. A great additional step to add to your clean routine is flossing, as this will help to remove any built-up grime sitting between your teeth.

Gizmos & Gadgets

There’s a wide array of gadgets and gizmos that can improve your oral health quite considerably, starting off with an all-electric toothbrush. An electric toothbrush is said to be more productive than a manual alternative, as the circular shape and spinning motion can get hard to reach areas with ease. You can even fix crooked teeth with a clear aligner, meaning painful operations and surgical braces can be a thing of the past! Always do your research before investing in a new gadget or gizmo, as previous reviews will give you a good idea of how effective each option can really be.
