The cost of maintaining an optimum level of health can be eye wateringly expensive. You might have a costly gym membership, be keen to partake in the latest expensive superfood revolution and you might not go a day without heading to the local juice bar for an overpriced green wheat grass smoothie. However, if you don’t have the money in your pocket, trying to remain the epitome of good health can seem impossible. It can be all too easy to reach for the convenience foods; they are cheap, tasty and cook in no time at all. However, they aren’t nutritious and can leave you feeling pretty lethargic, bloated and unsatisfied. You don’t have to be rolling in the cash to ensure you keep healthy. Take a look at these simple ways that you can obtain peak fitness without breaking the bank.

Superfood

There is no such thing as a superfood. Blueberries, goji berries, and avocados have been around since the dawn of humankind. It is only the astute marketing companies that give these morsels the super food label in an effort to tap into a psyche and make millions of dollars in the process. You simply need to ensure that you are eating a balanced and nutritious diet full of whole grains, fruit, vegetables and lean meats and fish. Forget the refined carbohydrates, sugary treats and fried fatty foods and opt for a more streamlined and healthier eating plan. You don’t need to break the bank hunting for the latest wonder berry and can stick to what’s on offer in your local supermarket.

Banish Bad Habits

Some of our most unhealthy habits can cost a fortune. Instead of spending a high percentage of your disposable income on smoking, swap your nicotine laden sticks for e-cigarettes. In the long run they are cheaper, don’t contain any harsh cancer-causing chemicals and can leave you without the nasty smokers cough you’ve had to ensure for the past decade or more. At the same time, curb your drinking habits and swap the alcohol for a soft drink. Any money you save by cutting your vices can be spent on that all-important gym membership you crave.
