When we lose a DVD of our child’s favorite film, or an old classic our family used to bond with from time to time, it can feel as though an experience has been robbed from you. Physical media is also starting to lose its relevance very slowly as certain alternate options come to the mainstream, and we are more than understanding of how families could feel somewhat confused when making the transition.

Losing your favorite entertainment can serve as a catalyst to help you move forward and start adopting yourself to the new standards. This can also, ironically, prevent those situations from playing out in that manner again. While some may choose to torrent using an updated torrent sites list, and that is an available option, it can also be that you use a range of methods that you can easily grasp and implement in a short space of time.

With that in mind, we offer the following tidbits of advice. When you’re next nestled on the sofa with your family enjoying a beautiful piece of media, you can thank yourself for the effort.

Consider Streaming Subscriptions

There are many streaming subscriptions out there, and they are absolutely replete with content. It might be that your favorite family movie is there in full HD via Disney Plus, or HBO, or Netflix, or Amazon Prime, or any other subscription service you deem worth paying attention to. You can check out websites that track the content available on these platforms with a quick Google search just to see what your investment will yield before you begin.

Check On Auction Sites

Old DVDs, blue-rays, VHS tapes, everything can be found on eBay or other auction sites like it. It’s worth considering this, because you never know just when or how you might reconnect yourself with an old box set you’ve been missing. Remember, it’s not always about digital content. Sometimes, watching a VHS tape on an old 4:3 television can be a brilliant use of your time. Twin Peaks, the Twilight Zone, The X-Files, there’s something amazingly comforting about viewing television as it was designed for a certain time. Luckily, e-stores will offer you access to that experience.

Check Digital Services

While you might not find that which you wish for through streaming subscriptions, or through finding another physical copy, it could be that you can purchase it directly through a digital service. For instance, Amazon Prime Video are taking the time to sell seasons of old television shows that are accessible through any smart television or computer monitor. Having a digital copy may not seem like the perfect solution, but having it outside of the natural progression of a recurring sub can give you a sense of permanence at least. You’d be surprised at what you can find – so why not get started?

With this advice, we hope you can reclaim your favorite entertainment, no matter how hopeless the situation may seem.
