Start Planning for Winter in Summer

When it’s still warm, it can be hard to imagine how cold winter will get. That said, when life is great, and your mood is positive, you’re more able to ready yourself for the colder months ahead. Whether it’s joining an exercise class or learning to make a hearty stew, it’s a great idea to invest a little extra effort in self-care when you’re still feeling the well-being that summer brought you. That way you’ll get the benefits a few months later, when it’s harder to stay energized.

Listen to Your Body

The winter months can be hard on your body, so it’s important to ensure that you’re taking care of yourself as carefully and thoroughly as possible. If you feel a cold coming on, rug up, drink plenty of fluids, and take it easy. If you catch it in time, you may be able to avert the worst symptoms by looking after your immune system. Don’t Always Do What Your Body Wants!

Just because you’re paying extra attention to what your body is telling you in winter doesn’t mean that you always have to do what it says. Exercise is a good example. When it’s chilly out, your body might protest at the suggestion that you should go out for your daily exercise, especially if the sun has already started to set, or it’s snowy or frosty out there.

If you can get yourself out of the house for a brisk walk every day, your mood this winter will be that much better. One of the most challenging things in winter is maintaining a positive mood daylight hours are almost non-existent. Exercise has been shown to boost mood by releasing endorphins, do it’s important to get your daily dose, even if your body begs to differ!
