Flu is one illness that’s a bit of a lottery. Sometimes, no matter what precautions you’ve
taken, or steps you’ve made, you could still come down with it. Thankfully, there are several
ways you can beat it quickly and effectively. Figures show that every year, up to one in five
Americans will come down with this common illness. Symptoms include fever, cough, runny
nose, sore throat, and an aching body. If you find yourself suffering these symptoms, here
are six things you can do to help fight the infection off.

1. IV Hydration Therapy
This is a relatively new treatment that is becoming very popular. It involves the application of
an intravenous drip through which a formula is pushed directly into your bloodstream. When
it comes to treating flu, this formula includes all the fluid, medications, and nutrients your
body needs to fight off the infection. Reset IV is an expert company that offers this type of
therapy.

2. Gargling
There is no cure for the flu, but it is possible to control the symptoms. One way to manage a
sore throat is by gargling with salt water. It is thought to work because it reduces the swelling
in the throat.

3. Chicken Soup
This is a flu remedy that has been passed down through generations of families! A
compound called carnosine is found in chicken soup, and it works to strengthen your body’s
immune system, thereby fighting off flu in the early stages. It also helps because the hot
liquid relieves nasal congestion, keeps you hydrated and soothes the inflamed membranes
in your nose and throat.

4. Oregano Oil
This is a remedy that’s been used for hundreds of years for treating a range of respiratory
problems such as coughs, colds, sore throats, bronchitis, and flu. It works because the
volatile oils have antiviral, antibacterial, and anti-inflammatory properties. It can also help
symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea because it calms down the stomach and
aids digestion. It’s particularly useful when treating flu because it promotes sweating, helping
to bring down a fever.

5. Olive Leaf Extract
This is a very powerful immune booster and flu treatment. A constituent of the leaf known as
phytochemical oleuropein performs many essential activities including antioxidant, anti-
inflammatory, anti-cancer, antimicrobial, antiviral and hypolipidemic and hypoglycemic
effects. It can be taken in the form of a tea, capsules or oils.

6. Steamy Shower
It’s important to keep your nasal passages moist when you’ve got the flu, and an excellent
way to do this is by taking a steamy shower or bath. The steam helps clear out mucus in
your nasal passages and your throat. If you’re feeling a little weak or lightheaded because of
your symptoms, make sure you sit down while taking in the steam.

Try one, two or more of these methods and you should be feeling better in no time at all. If,
however, your symptoms persist, it’s important you seek medical attention as flu can be a
severe illness if left untreated.
